Innovative clarinetist, Luca Luciano, performing at one of London's hidden gems, The Foundling Museum in Brunswick Square. As with other recitals, obvious photography wasn't the done thing, unlike sneaky photography which was fine and dandy. Most of the pieces Luca played were his own compositions, composed in real time (ie "improvised" said the programme notes), encompassing jazz and classical influences and playing on a clarinet that boasted more keys and rings than other clarinets. His whole-hearted physical and emotional performance was enthralling to watch, his music often drawing him up from his chair in a way that barely stopped short of actual levitation. He was accompanied by pianist Bruno d'Ambra. "Fellini in London" was the stand-out for me.
