June 23rd - Day 66 (afternoon)

I found a piano on Camberwell Green - one of the streetpianos.com street pianos. Now I just need to find streetpianoplayers.com

June 24th - Day 67 (afternoon)

...And so Daisy and I turned up at the appointed hour beside the Camberwell Piano (conveniently situated next to a playground) to see the Camberwell Complaints Chorus. But the buggers weren't there. Still, at least I know where to complain. We bumped into my friend Charlie on the way. Charlie, very thoughtlessly, has spent his life not learning how to play the piano and so was unable to be a substitute for the Camberwell Complaints Chorus. And Daisy, quite apart from the fact that she also hasn't bothered to learn the piano, has already featured in my quest (Day 9) and so is rendered unsuitable. I played a few notes of "Doe a deer", or whatever it's called, and Charlie kindly suggested that would count. But I knew I'd only be cheating myself if I followed his advice. Someone watching asked whether she had to pay. I don't know if she meant to listen or to play.
And then I had to take Daisy home and go out again later...

June 24th - Day 67 (evening)

I was frankly feeling less than enthusiastic about going out again tonight but fortunately James Sherwood, the first musical comedian featured in my journey, was musical and comedic (and admirably pedantic). myspace.com/sherwoodcomedy

Was feeling at low ebb with the project generally to be honest, so thought this was a good moment to tell all my facebook friends what I'm up to so that if I stopped now I'd look foolish...and I don't want to look foolish, so I won't stop now.

July 12th - Day 85

Last Sunday I was at The Southwark Irish Festival on Peckham Rye Common. I watched two men singing about Donegal and eyes that shone like diamonds, but I didn't find out who these men were. I looked for clues on the net and unearthed a Trad Irish music session, every Sunday at The Old Dispensary on Camberwell Green. I went along tonight and was treated to swirly, jiggery Irish music - the kind I like. Fiddle, bodhran, tin whistle, mandolins, accordian and all that. The musicians had a corner of the pub pretty much to themselves, though they did have to share with an elderly chap, whom the pub may well have been built around, who lived on a green leather armchair in the same corner.
