January 13th - Day 270

One of three guitarists I encountered whilst shopping for theremins on Charing Cross Road and Denmark Street. Macaris Music shop recommended the Colorsound Eclipse Theremin to me. It was green and small. I told them I'd read that the smaller non-Moog theremins can be regarded as toys that make buzzy noises rather than music. I was strongly assured that it wasn't a toy and was shown into a small room in the basement of the shop (to try out the instrument, not because I'd called it a toy). The theremin was plugged into an amp and I was left alone for five minutes to dabble. Fortunately for a chap trying out guitars in the same area, my door was closed, though judging from his occasional anxious glances in my direction, the room wasn't soundproofed. I can see now why the theremim has a reputation for being hard to play. Actually, it's not hard to play, it's just hard to play music. And I still want one, though I decided I need to do a bit of google research before deciding whether to go for the Colorsound Eclipse Theremin that isn't a toy...or a Moog. The former is definitely more portable...hmm...
